Title
"Mass digitization, open access and open computation: are they compatible?"
Abstract
With the advent of mass digitization projects also emerge a number of conditions and contracts that merit some scrutiny. These huge digitization projects signal a major turning point in our transition to a fully digitized culture. However, what kind of digital document is implied in the legal and technical frameworks of these projects? What opportunities open up thereby? What possibilities disappear?
To put this issue into sharper relief, let us ask the following, perhaps provocative, question: can we move into the generalized digital age of documents without falling into some "incunabular" trap?
